Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.
Types of Tile Flooring
When shopping for tile with us, we carry traditional options like ceramic, porcelain, and stone.
The most commonly seen tile in homes and businesses is ceramic and porcelain tile. Both are made from the same materials, but porcelain is denser, making it more durable and resistant to moisture. Ceramic and porcelain are great options for kitchens, bathrooms, and even laundry rooms. They both come in a wide variety of colors, styles, and patterns so there is something for just about everyone. We also offer stone tile. Stone is naturally durable, and when sealed properly can be stain and moisture resistant. With stone tile, almost no two are alike and give your home a unique look.
There is also wall tile and backsplash tile. In most cases they are made from ceramic tiles but can also be made with other materials like mosaics, glass, and even metal. Wall tile and backsplash tile are light weight, and only meant for walls as they are not dense enough to handle foot traffic.
Once you know the room you want tile in is when you can choose the type of tile you need. When it comes to tile on your floors choose a tile that is durable and can handle foot traffic. When it comes to tile on your walls you want to choose either a ceramic option or backsplash tile. If you choose to install tile outside, choose porcelain or stone because of their water resistance abilities and resistance to heat.
